Meeting Notes - April 17, 2018

Tonight we celebrated our Champions for Education!

Every year, our Champions for Education awards recognize individuals and groups from the Windsor-Essex community that have contributed hours of volunteerism or financial donations that have made a difference in the lives of our students at GECDSB. Some examples include providing opportunities to co-op students, donating healthy snacks to students, and running breakfast programs. All full list of all award recipients and their contributions can be found here. Congratulations to all!

Superintendent John Howitt presented his Operational Report which included the goals that Information Technology Services has established to support our Strategic, Operational and Board Improvement Plans for Student Achievement (BIPSA). Part of this plan included a re-organization of the department, strengthening the security of our IT systems, and improving the user’s experience through automation and process improvement.

Finally, we approved several policies including the operation of our Summer School programming, the next school year calendar, and guidelines about trustees’ use of social media during the municipal election which is in October. I can’t believe it has been nearly four years since I was first elected to the GECDSB Board of Trustees! I am grateful every day for your trust in me to serve this community.
